Flexipass Pass

Do I need to make travel reservations if I am using a Flexipass?

Yes.  Travel reservations are necessary, as your name and travel details are on the bus driver's passenger list, so they know where to pick you up and where you are travelling to.

Travel reservations can be made by a calling a national tollfree number in New Zealand or made online form any PC, laptop, IPad or computer tablet.

Does my pass include accommodation?

No, Flexipass™ gives you complete freedom to choose where you want to stay. Check the accommodation page for accommodation types, rates and reservations.  

Can I change my departure dates?

Yes. You can make changes to your itinerary up to 2 hours prior to departure on all bus and coach sectors.

Can I get off anywhere?

Yes. As long as it’s on the InterCity, Great Sights, awesomeNZ or Newmans travel networks outlined in the Flexipass Travel Planner route map. Travel on private contracted bus operators is not allowed.

How long is my Flexipass™ valid for?

It is valid for 12 months from the date of activation giving you plenty of time to stop where you want for longer. Activation occurs once travel has been booked.

Do top-ups extend the life of my pass?

No. Top-up hours are valid only within the existing life of the pass i.e.12 months from the initial activation.

What’s included in my pass?

Bus and coach transport on InterCity, awesome NZ, Great Sights and Newmans national bus and coach network including selected dedicated sightseeing tours throughout the country like the Cape/Brett/Hole in the Rock Cruise, Cape Reinga /Ninety Mile Beachday tour from Paihia, Auckland and Rotorua half day sightseeing tours and the Interislander ferry services between the North (Wellington) and South (Picton) Islands.

Meals, optional activities like the Milford Sound cruise, attraction entry fees, etc are not included in your pass price but are available on additional payment. Payment of optional attraction entry fees, services, etc can be prebooked and/or prepaid or paid for on day of travel.

What if I don't use all my hours, can I get a refund?

Unfortunately refunds can not be made for any unused portion/s of your Flexipass™ once it's been activated (i.e. once you have booked your first journey). You can however gift or sell it onto somebody else.

Where can I find information on timetables?

For online Flexipass timetable information and travel 'Hours' for national bus/coach/ferry services throughout New Zealand. 

Flexipass is only valid for travel on InterCity (IC), InterCity Link (IL), Newmans (NM), GreatSights New Zealand (GS) coach services and selected Fullers Great Sights Bay of Islands (GB), awesomeNZ (AW) services.

I'm travelling with a friend, can we use the same pass?

No, each traveller must have their own pass.  For example you cannot buy a single 30 hour pass for two people; you must buy two 15 hour passes.  It is possible to buy two or more passes in one booking transaction.  If you do this you and your friend(s) must travel together on the same dates and same services.  However if you intend to travel on different dates or services you must purchase the passes in separate purchase transactions.  If you purchase two or more passes in the same purchase but later decide to travel separately, please contact us directly to split your pass.  A NZ$50 administration fee applies for splitting passes.  

Are there any discounts for people over senior citizens or small groups?

No. Since Flexipass is heavily discounted travel, there are no discounts for senior citizens or small groups.

Can I use my Flexipass on the TranzApline train?

No. If you want to travel on the TranzAlpine train, this will be an additional fare of NZ$119.00 to NZ$219.00 per adult (15 years and older) per TranzAlpine train travel sector.

How much luggage can I take with me if using a Flexipass?

- Checked Luggage - Each passenger is allowed to travel with two pieces of luggage weighing a maximum of 25kg each per item (20kg on some Auckland to Wellington services and any GOLD services). Each piece of luggage should not exceed total dimensions (length + width + height) of 158cm (62 inches).

Extra luggage may be carried subject to space available at a cost of NZ$10.00 per item per sector, payable to the driver or NZ$15.00 for any ferry service between the North and South Islands. Any transport operator/s cannot guarantee carriage of extra luggage on any specific travel date or service

- Carry on luggage - Each passenger is limited to one carry-on item with dimensions not exceeding 20cm high x 28cm deep with a maximum length of 400mm.  The maximum weight is 5kg.

Handbags, umbrellas, walking sticks and other aids are permitted.

You are responsible for your carry-on luggage and transport operator/s do not accepts no responsibility whatsoever for loss or damage to carry-on luggage. It is recommended that you have sufficient insurance cover offer all carry on and checked luggage.
